-The sprawling 2.89-acre complex, now known as Avalon West Hollywood, will consist of a series of low-rise structures featuring 370 residential units, including 77 reserved as affordable housing for seniors. The apartments will sit atop approximately 30,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a large underground parking garage.
A hybrid building, the moment-frame structure contains a library, learning resource center, student union space, student success center, media center, and full-service kitchen with food service area. The unique triangular design with open courtyard also provides a new center for campus activity.
The $100 million development, located in Chinatown, includes 237 apartments. The low-rise includes a mixture of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans, including 53 units reserved as affordable housing.
